Since september 2015 thousands of refugees entered the Netherlands seeking safety. The Redcross Amsterdam provides emergency shelter, medical assistence and basic needs like warm winter clothing, blankets, toiletries. Our support doesn't stop with relieve aid. In the coming years we will support these people any way we can in picking up their lives and trying to make a future for themselves and their children. Finances needed depend on accurate needs and the precarity of the situation
Currently there are more than 1500 refugees living in temporary shelters in Amsterdam. Because thousands of refugees have entered the country in a period of just months the government is not able anymore to provide enough decent shelter and basic necessities for all of these people. As a relief organisation the Redcross offers support where we can. With donations made to this project we can offer support to those 1500 refugees and the ones that might still come to Amsterdam
We have set up distribution points to provide the shelters with basic necessities. We provide medical assistence in the shelters. We will set up new shelters in case more refugees will come to Amsterdam. For future support we develop an addapt excisting support programmes to the need of the refugees in order to help them integrate and make a future for themselves and their children.
We will support 1500 refugees currently sheltered in Amsterdam and any number of refugees that come to Amsterdam in the (near) future.
