Help 1100 Students affected by Flood in Kerala

Wishing you all a very joyful year ahead !

We are happy to provide you an update on our relief and rebuilding work in a few selected Flood affected schools in Kerala .

We selected 8 schools to support after undertaking a field visit soon after the flood . These schools were assessed for the needs made a plan to help them within our available resources . Some of the needs were :-

Provision of School bag, books and other study and play materials for children

Sponsorship support to poor children to meet educational expenses

Rebuilding  school library

Supply of Benches& desks,

Chair & Study table for all children

Rebuilding Computer Lab ,

Rebuilding Science Lab

Rebuilding safe drinking water facilities in school etc.

On a priority basis  provision of School bag, books and other study and play materials for children were done in September 2018 itself . This brought back the smile on children’s face . Quotations were invited and purchase orders or work orders were placed for furniture and other lab equipment as next step.  

Work also started to repair the computer, science labs in school and the drinking water facilities in school . Timely and quick interventions made the schools function normally .

RECOGNITION TO OUR WORK

All the schools were very cooperative and involved the Parents -Teachers Association ( PTA ) in collecting quotations , selecting needy beneficiary children and were present during distribution of assistance.

Our work was also recognized by the Education department of the District Mrs. Praseena , Assistant Educational Officer, (AEO ),Thiruvalla felicitated IDEA’s representatives in a function organized in a School. 

FUTURE PLAN

After our work in the schools, now we have plans to provide livelihood assistance to rebuild the life of many very poor people . For this we are looking for funds from all our supporters with a request to spread a word of recommendation in your network .
