Stronger Together!

By Shawn Turner | President

Helping a family with emergency medical needs.
Helping a family with emergency medical needs.

The Nest is not only hosts the physical and occupational therapy, the children's library and the weekly senior lunch, it is a community space of collarboration and mutual service to the community.

Because of our donors, we are able not only to meet needs, but to build partnerships that strengthen our entire community.

This month has beautifully reflected the power of collaboration. Through a local nonprofit, Spirit of Wellness, we received hospital supplies such as compression socks, oxygen masks, and adult diapers that were passed along to our local hospital. They also provided us with a child's walker, which we were able to pass along to a physical therapist for one of his clients. She has multiple medical issues and the walker will help her with mobility. A generous donor also purchased air conditioners for the maternity ward and the x-ray room — a tremendous gift for patients and staff alike.

We worked alongside a medical support group, Helping Kids in Ecuador, to help a young child receive emergency appendix surgery in a nearby town, coordinating both the ambulance transport and the procedure.

We were also grateful to welcome Diakonia, who provided hands-on classes in healthy eating. Families learned new recipes and even prepared vegetarian lentil hamburgers using lentils included in their food bank kits — empowering them with practical, nutritious options they can recreate at home.

None of this happens alone. It happens because of a network of caring partners. Thanks to wordlwide generosity, we can make these connections possible whcih allows us to share responsibility in creating a healthier, stronger Manglaralto.
