This project aims at creating a Computer lab to provide free ICT training for Girls in Bombali District. This project will capacitate these girls in computer skills, make them independent and frown at early marriage. The world has gone ICT. No child should be left behind. The lab will also be used in the Communities to reach the unemployed youths with no skills to seek employment. This will enable them to seek employment, become self employed or further their education in ICT or other careers.
These girls out here in Bombali and other districts do not have access to computer. These girls have never seen a computer. The digital divide between the urban and the rural girls is therefore very wide. These girls from villages are expected to compete on the same level with their counter-parts in the urban areas for jobs and other opportunities. Youths have missed jobs because of lack of these skills. Jobs are advertised online, interviews are done online and responses posted online.
Our project aims to train these girls and youths within Bombali District in Computer and ICT skills. The project intends to bridge the huge gap in the ICT sector for rural girls. The center will cater for girls in villages who have never seen or neither touch a computer in their lives. The project team will go to schools and explain to them about the important of computer training and ICT. The project will impact skills that the pupils need to fit into the global community.
The project in the first year will train 1500 girls and youths in computer skills and ICT. The skills earned among them will enable them to obtain employment, impact on their areas of training, and boost their desire to pursue ICT as a career. The project will encourage the various communities to send their girls and youths for ICT training. With huge number of youths who are facing challenges in securing a job because of computer and ICT skills, will grab this offer.
