ILGA-Europe work for LGBTI people's safety, equality and freedom. In collaboration with and on behalf of over 700 LGBTI member organisations across 54 countries Europe and Central Asia, we are a driving force for political, legal and social change. We work for a world in which each and every LGBTI person is free, equal and safe, through advocating for LGBTI equality and supporting frontline activists in the most crucial contexts.
Although much progress has been made around LGBTI rights and equality, the work isn't done. There's much more to do before LGBTI people can enjoy full equality and freedom, and worryingly we're even seeing backsliding on rights in many places. ILGA-Europe's latest annual report revealed that 2022 was the most violent year for LGBTI people across the region in the past decade, both through planned, ferocious attacks and through suicides in the wake of rising and widespread hate speech.
ILGA-Europe is a driving force for legal, political and social change for LGBTI communities. We advocate for more inclusive law and policy at the highest levels and build and bolster a cohesive European LGBTI movement, empowering and resourcing frontline activists in the most crucial contexts across the region through grant-making and capacity-building programmes focusing on strategic communications, security, tackling socio-economic inequalities and more.
Alongside and on behalf of 700+ member organisations in 54 countries, we work towards our vision of a world where each and every LGBTI person is free, equal and safe.
