Support the Empowerment of Girls and Young Women

Dear All, 

We've had some incredible couple of months since the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Hajj, branching out in new and adventurous ways within our community and spending some meaningful time together along the way. 

We ended Ramadan on a high note, with an iftar with children who had lost their parents to the war in Syria, and were able to secure funding to extend the celebrations to eid and purchase toys for the different groups. At the same time, we continued working with girls and young women who have been impacted by war and continued supporting them on their journeys for self-actualization. 

More recently, we've been busy extending a partnership to other regions of the country beyond the two major cities of Amman and Irbid. The need for support, environmental and social justice work extends beyond the major cities and is more desperately needed due to lack of resources outside of the capital. 

Part of the new partnership we're working on will include an environmental justice component similar that the model utilized in Waterbury, CT with our team there. This program will be provided to community leaders, and students to support them in understanding environmental justice, food security, and environmental health needs of their communities. 

To cap a wonderful summer, we've started looking for a part-time coordinator to support our increasing workload and to continue expanding the work we're doing in Jordan and beyond. 

Dear All,

Over the last two months, we've successfully raised over $6000 to support our girls and young women's programming in Jordan, as well as raising over $2000 for environmental Justice work around the work and winning a slot in the inaugural Climate Fund. To most these two areas of Justice work are separate and rarely have anything to do with one another, but to us at Life in My Days, utilizing a holistic Justice and Transformation framework we recognize that the two spheres of justice are connected in every stage and must be addressed in partnership. 

To launch these incredible programs we ran a three day fifteen person Trauma and Transformation training, delving into injustices that most closely impact girls and young women around the world in Jordan and around the world and building frameworks to transform our society so that these injustices do not exist in our futures. This was followed by two separate trauma intensives, one for children and one for parents to build an understanding of how trauma impacts us and ways to move beyond our trauma. Lastly, we ran two full-day workshops around Building Relationships and Connecting with our Inner Child. 

All this set the foundation for our work for the remainder of the year and into 2020 to hire our part-time coordinator, host our first Community Transformation Conference focusing on going beyond Patriarchal Violence, and launching our year-long fellowship for Refugee women. 

Because of your support we've been able to reach nearly 200 individuals already, and we've just begun this incredible journey! Thank you, from the entire team at Life in My Days, and on behalf of everyone, we've reached!
