By Ni Nengah Merdekawati | EBPP English Teacher
During the last few months, EBPP teachers have engaged in numerous activities, including training sessions to enhance our teaching knowledge, particularly in teaching methods. We conducted curriculum evaluations with experts and learned to develop effective teaching methods that encourage students to be more active and creative. In addition to academic learning, we also provide knowledge in skills and project-based activities.
British and Aussie Teachers Give EBPP Teacher Support
I am deeply grateful to our volunteers, Chris and Duncan, for sharing their expertise with us during September and October 2024. Their workshops on Cooperative Learning introduced us to practical, student-centred strategies that have transformed our teaching. By applying their techniques, including engaging individual and group activities, we’ve seen improved student creativity, participation, and collaboration. The curriculum evaluation sessions focused on enhancing numeracy and literacy through diagnostic assessments and cooperative learning, resulting in better teaching outcomes and tailored support for students. Their guidance also helped refine our assessment methods, leading to more accurate evaluations and measurable progress. Their contributions have significantly enriched our teaching approach and student success.
Teacher Training and Professional Development
In November, the local Education office held two important training sessions: photography training and learning community development, which provided valuable insights and practical tools to improve our teaching techniques, creativity, and to more effectively document classroom activities.
Introductory Ecotourism Workshop
EBPP new partner, ‘Rumah Intaran’, introduced key concepts related to ecotourism, which can be applied across various subjects, and highlighted the potential of our local environment for educational purposes.
Facilitating students’ Project-Based Life Skills and Cultural Activities
The teachers prepared a major project that extends beyond academic learning: Mebat (cooking together) and Megibung (sharing a meal together) featuring traditional Balinese dishes. These activities aim to foster teamwork as students collaborate in food preparation, deepen their appreciation for Balinese culture and traditions, and strengthen their bonds by sharing meals in a spirit of togetherness.
Students’ Surprise! on National Teacher's Day, 25 November
A truly unforgettable moment came when our amazing Student Council, joined by dozens of EBPP students, gave us a heartfelt surprise party! They prepared an assortment of snacks, cakes, candies, and flowers as a beautiful token of their appreciation. As teachers, we were deeply touched and incredibly proud of this thoughtful gesture - making us feel truly valued, and inspired us to keep striving to provide the best education for our students, fuelling our passion to continue guiding and supporting them with even more dedication.
Thank you so much to all our donors for your ongoing support. Your generosity allows us to continue providing the best education and opportunities for our motivated students - and we appreciate your commitment to helping us make a lasting difference in their lives.
