Support teachers in remote Eastern Indonesia

Because of you, more children are receiving access to good books and are beginning to experience the joy of reading.

The success of the 'Library in the Box' Program in NTT
Over the past months, we have partnered with a local organisation in East Indonesia to bring portable “Library in the Box” units to remote primary schools. Each box provides 120 highquality levelled storybooks, resources that most classrooms in this region did not have before. Thanks to your support and the commitment of our partner, we were able not only to deliver the books, but also to train 19 teachers, equip the schools with a simple borrowing system, and set up childfriendly reading corners in both schools. This has already led to wonderful results:

• 87% of students borrowed at least one book, and brought it home to read
• Teachers facilitated 12 reading sessions, twice what we originally planned
• Children are now reading during breaks, choosing books independently, and even asking to bring them home to read with their families
• Parents have become involved too, coming to school to help their children borrow books safely during the rainy season

These small but significant changes show how access to the right books can really make a difference in these classrooms. We look forward to expand this program to other schools as well.
