Colombia faces deep social inequalities, with the richest 10% earning over 11 times the income of the poorest 10%. Access to higher education remains a key barrier to social mobility. Nearly 500,000 students graduate from high school each year and 80% of them dream of attending college to pursue their dreams, yet only 40% enter university. This means 6 out of 10 youth give up their dreams to support themselves and their families through low-paying, mostly informal employment.
