Form the Upcoming Summer season, hot weather makes people more active in water sports, but as a result, the mortality rate due to drowning is increasing. From May to September, Red Cross lifeguards will be present at dangerous water areas across Taiwan, watching over people’s safety, and ready to save lives.
Working with fire departments across the country, the Red Cross will assist with on-site patrols and carry out safety measures in accordance with fire department protocol. Regardless of holidays, the weather, or compensation, volunteer lifeguards are always ready.
The Red Cross President, visited the Da Bao stream safety service station to thank all volunteers in person.
The lifeguard training, systematic approach in teaching, teachers and materials offered by the Red Cross have set the benchmark across the country. The training focuses on and includes swimming, first aid, swift water rescue, CPR + AED, etc. Volunteers participate in lifeguard training every year so that their knowledge and training is up to date. These strict regulations ensure that the certifications issued by the Red Cross are recognized and trusted.
This May, the Red Cross held life-saving training in Wanli, New Taipei City. The training emphasized water safety and first aid, and enabled volunteers with the correct skills and methods needed to approach various situations and water environments, such as in oceans, rivers, streams or lakes.
“Saving Lives, Changing Minds”, the Red Cross continues to make great efforts for humanity.
