Support Survivors of Sexual Violence in Ukraine: Interim Report

By Olha Bondarchuk | Operations Manager

Dear Friend of Sylni foundation,
Thank you!
Healing of people in need begins with your support!

Sixteen people, who are survivors of sexual violence, either in civilian life or during russian captivity, have already received essentian support through your donation. Thirteen of them began psychological recovery, and completed 44 hours of trauma-focused therapy and several crisis consultations. These sessions provided a space where survivors, many of them for the first time, could begin to speak openly and regain a sense of safety. The cost of psychological support for these 13 beneficiaries amounted to 1119.04 USD.

We were able to provide one person with medication for hepatitis, a direct consequence of the violence caused by russian military, for a total of 148.61 USD. Another survivor received specialized legal counseling that helped him clarify his legal status, understand available procedures, and prepare the documentation needed to file an official complaint - 71.42USD was allocated for three hours of specialized legal consultation. One person received medication treatment to manage severe anxiety, insomnia, and flashbacks that made daily life unbearable, with medication costs totaling 17.98 USD.

All beneficiaries underwent an individual assessment of their condition and needs, and the assistance was provided according to recommendations from specialized professionals. Special attention was devoted to maintaining a safe, ethical, and empathetic environment where each person receives high-quality care without judgment, pressure, or re-traumatization. Thanks to your support, these sixteen survivors have begun their recovery journey with professional assistance. With access to psychological and legal help, they are gradually restoring a sense of safety, control, and trust in others. This progress marks an important first step toward rebuilding their lives, a step made possible through your contribution.

This interim report reflects the assistance provided using 1357.08 USD of 4,034.30 USD collected from your donations. In the coming months, we will update you again as we continue providing psychological, legal, and medical support both to these survivors and to new individuals who are only now beginning their path toward healing.

Thank you for your kindness and support!
Sincerely,
Sylni’s team
