Finalist of the Microsoft in Education School Pitch Competition! Students at Saint John's School in Chile will develop an educational applications for Kinect Windows to improve reading comprehension, which will be shared on a virtual platform that can be downloaded by anyone. The project also seeks to share the experience with other schools through workshops and mentoring classes.
We can see that our students live in a constantly moving environment, surrounded by games and visual stimulation. It is said that because of these environments kids today don't read or do not understand what they read or do not know if it's true. Our proposal seeks to approach the world and in those environments put educational content, so that through play and body movement learning can occur.
The first step of this project is the development of the games, (we could call it "the tip of the iceberg") but also we want to create a collaborating net on inquiry-based learning, with the principal focus on the contributions of the videogames to the learning process and the role of the students like a main character.
Games created will be posted on a web platform that can be accessed by all other schools. Also local workshops for teachers will be offered nationally and mentoring classes in schools. In a "second level" this project seeks the interchange of students between differents countries, to share and create.
