Pakistan is one of the poorest countries in the world. The enrolment ratio overall at primary level (40% and 29% in rural areas) shows the limited access to education. Most teachers use old-fashioned methods and teaching techniques. The above situation reflects the overall context in Pakistan and especially in Ghotki. Hwa Foundation Pakistan plans to build three Disaster Risk Reduction (free) classrooms in flood prone areas, provide furniture for teachers and students as well as stationery
The Indus River is one of the longest rivers in Asia. It passes through Ghotki city. The main problem is the lack of village revenue, illiteracy and poverty. Almost are illiterate, which causes the increased extremist forces. Extremists are providing residence, food and clothes. After some time they become the suiciders. It would be stopped by education. Parents are interested to educate children, but school does not exist. Education plays a crucial role in promoting and organising communities.
If we constructed three class rooms, provided furniture, text books, stationery to both students and teachers as well as training to the teachers, the enrolment and attendance of the students will increase. As a result, pedagogy skills of the teachers will be improved as well.
The project will enroll 450 street children in primary education and allow literacy to increase, which will have an impact on decreased poverty and extremism. The communities will pledge their cooperation with increased enrolment in three schools. This increases the awareness of the parents regarding the importance of education will therefore lead us to the literate Pakistan of the future.
