Students in the Government schools are very scared of Math and do not have confidence to even attempt a problem. They hate Math . To make Math interesting and fun to learn , YFS did research to buy them kits. Every kits that was commercially sold was expensive and we couldnt afford to give schools the kits.
When we did Brainstorming internally on these issue, we came up with an idea to do it ourselves with cheap material. We developed a sample Level 1 math kit inhouse and also developed notes associated with it. Initially we identified studetns who require these Level 1 Math learning by conducting a base line test.
We requested volunteers to help us with creating the math kit and workbooks. Volunteers were more than happy creating this as their childhood memories came back flowing. Once done , these kits were distributed in the schools by volunteers.
Training was conducted for the teachers on how to use these kit and how t teach children so as to increase the curiousity among them. this worked well. Teachers adn students were very happy and we found a tremendous improvement in the way children look at Math. Atleast the Fear is gone.
