This project will bring back smile on the faces of children living in most inaccessible areas of Karnataka, India. Through this project we aim to provide basic needs of school going children. They include Uniform , Rain Coat, Pair of Shoe, Note Books, School Bag, Nutritional Supplements, Field trip once a year and last but not least provide school 'TEACHER'. The uniqueness of this program is that the leads of this project have studied in these schools and faced very same challenge
The identified schools are in locations where families are dependent on small-time farming (self-sustenance), forest produce or daily wages labour. Students who come to these schools can't even afford to pay for school uniform, pair of shoe,rain coat,note books and nutritional supplements needed for child's mental and physical growth. let alone for a quality access to education.Due to these socio-economic conditions, a good percentage of students are dropping out of school.
This project will address the issues listed in multiple ways 1) Provide scholarships to needy and deserving students. This would cover school fee, uniform, rain coat, shoe, books and bus pass (as applicable to each school). 2) Salary/Honorarium to professionals who are willing to engage with the school 3) Solar lights and Water filters for school on need basis : Due to massive power cuts in rural areas students evening studies are impacted severely. 4) Sports and Cultural Events
Our volunteers have been involved with these schools for about 3-4 years now. There's already a visible change in the mindset of students, parents and local communities regarding education, opportunities for higher-education, diverse jobs and entrepreneurship, which was not traditionally available to these communities in the past.With this project's success school drop outs and Child labor can be eradicated.
