About Kigga:
Kigga is a small village located amidst the western ghat forests of Shringeri Taluk, Chikkamagaluru District. The main occupation of people of the surrounding villages are agriculture for self-sustenance, daily wage labour in the fields, forests or near-by town. Providing quality education for their kids has been a challenge for various reasons - inconsistent income, lack of work opportunity or business, issues with school staffing and resources, etc
Education Workshop Kigga School -29th Aug -2015
Shri Abhinava Ramananda High School is a government aided school in Kigga. Students come to this school from 10 different nearby villages. Many of them come by walk in the forest. The school management has kept the school fee very low and made access to education affordable to these students.
Cisco's Sambrama team, with the help of Youth For Seva, has started working with this school from the academic year 2015-16. The main aim of Cisco's team is to bridge the gap of the learning, provide educational infrastructure wherever needed, conduct specialized camps on learning, sports, computers and fun activities.
As a part of this initiative, 6 volunteers visited this school on August 29th and conducted a full-day workshop. The sessions included exam preparation, career guidance, computers and educational software
Art and Music…
Sessions to introduce art and music to students was also well received. Importance of fitness, methodical approach to training for a given sport, strengthening and other aspects was part of the sports sessi.on.

Career Counselling.. Khanij, A volunteer From Cisco had a session on Exam preparation and career guidance. Session was interactive and gave the students a much needed clarity.
