Safe Water for Displaced Kids in Northern, Nigeria

During our recent visit to Ortese, we were deeply moved by the resilience we witnessed. Despite years of conflict and the devastation caused by recent flooding, hope has not been extinguished in this community. Parents still believe in a brighter future for their children, and local leaders remain steadfast in their commitment to rebuilding. Most inspiring of all, children continue to dream—of learning, playing, and growing up healthy and strong.

But hope, as powerful as it is, cannot replace the urgent need for safe drinking water. Every day that families are forced to rely on contaminated streams, their health and recovery remain at risk. Waterborne diseases threaten to undo the progress made by these determined families, keeping children out of school and making it difficult for parents to focus on rebuilding their livelihoods.
