Imagine waking up each morning knowing that the only water available for your child to drink comes from a contaminated stream—water that could cause serious illness or even cost them their life. For hundreds of children and families in Ortese, Benue State, Nigeria, this is not imagination; it is their daily reality.
Years of violent conflict have displaced families, damaged critical infrastructure, and left entire communities without reliable access to safe drinking water. Women and children often walk long distances to collect water from unsafe ponds and streams contaminated by human and animal waste. Every sip exposes them to preventable diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid—illnesses that continue to claim thousands of young lives globally each year. Children weakened by repeated infections miss school, suffer from malnutrition, and lose opportunities to build a better future.
Yet this crisis is entirely preventable. Access to clean, safe water transforms lives. It protects children from disease, allows girls to spend more time in school instead of fetching water, improves family health, and restores dignity and hope to communities recovering from conflict.
At GoGreen, we are working to install sustainable, community-managed safe water systems that will provide reliable access to clean water for vulnerable families in Ortese. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to protecting a child from preventable illness and giving families the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
Your generosity is more than a donation—it is clean water, healthier children, stronger communities, and renewed hope. Together, we can ensure that no child has to risk their life simply because they are thirsty.
Please stand with us today. The need is urgent, and every day without safe water is another day a child's life remains at risk.
