Support required for Maintenance of the Vehicle

Dear Patrons,

We all express our warm greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HEARDS) - India!

I hope this report finds you and your family well. Until March 21 our rehabilitation centre was running successfully. However, as COVID-19pandemic spreads and hitting thousands of people in India the Indian Government has decided to go for a complete lockdown from March 21 until May 17, 2020. During these hard times, we also closed our rehabilitation centre because of these pandemic.

Within a month of COVID-19, hitting hundreds of people in Chittoor was out of work due to lockdown and all the businesses were closed. Hundreds are now out of work, facing the potential threat of sickness through COVID-19, or hunger as so many families fall into deep poverty. The livelihood of these daily wage earners has been adversely affected and due to little to no preparedness, they have no food rations for the coming days. This project provides nutritional support to 60 families of daily wage earners who reside in urban slums.

In order to mitigate the direct effects of the COVID-19 pandemic during the lockdown HEARDS has decided to issue free grocery items for each family who is facing a panic situation during this lockdown.  The goal is to deliver provision items to help families in isolated communities face the quarantine and make it through the COVID19 crisis. 

HEARDS provides nutritional, educational, and health support to starving children and their families in the wake of this pandemic. The community is spreading awareness within each other and practicing social distancing. HEARDS is also involving parents of the children in emergency preparedness for disaster mitigation for nutrition and medical support.

As COVID-19 continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable. These are challenging times for us all, and we hope you are in good spirits and health! Right now, we are doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide services to our community. While there is a lot of uncertainty, we know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality. Now, more than ever, our community needs us.  Moreover, we need you.

• Free Grocery distribution by HEARDS

Dear Esteemed Patrons,

Seasonal greetings from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HEARDS) to all of you and wish you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2020! As we are all into the new fresh year with lots of aims and objectives and I personally wish all of you to attain those resolutions, which you have taken for this New Year.

This year was a successful year for HEARDS as we were able to concentrate more than 35 children through this van. It was with your great support we were able to continue this project.  

Thank you for your support for the maintenance of the vehicle.  One of the major components towards the success of the Child Labor rehabilitation project is the vehicle, which made it possible to take children from different corners of the city.  With this vehicle, we were able to concentrate more number of children who are living far away from the city.  This acts as a great boon for children because there was no public transportation in many areas where our van reaches it.

The majority of the children coming by this van are child laborers who were dropped out with various causes like poverty, lack of awareness, addiction towards alcoholism by their parents and most of these children's families are extremely poor to afford education expenses. This has resulted in dropout and finally these children were been in the clutches of child labor employers.

Even during this year, we were adding another 10-15 children towards this project as these children are also coming from far away remote places of Chittoor. During the initial period, the children find it very difficult to travel and come to the center. However, once they come to the center they feel happier after seeing the methodologies followed by our Staff Team. The enrollment towards the rehabilitation center is going to take place by the end of March 2020. We will come out with a fresh list of children supported through this program.

All the HEARDS staff members and children sincerely thank you for your time and for supporting our mission to provide free education, free and safe transportation to these downtrodden children.
