AFRIL empowers refugees to rebuild content and purposeful lives in the UK. We support refugees and asylum seekers in Lewisham to help themselves and integrate into the community. We run a Foodbank, Saturday school for refugee children, Legal advice services for housing, education, employment and more, English classes for refugees and opportunities to volunteer and work. We help over 100 refugees every week, and your donations will enable us to continue providing vital services.
Most refugees and asylum seekers in the UK live in poverty. Asylum seekers are not allowed to work and many refugees struggle to find work, being left to live on just 5 GBP per day. This means they're unable to provide basics for their family, including food, clothing, nappies and more. AFRIL's work supports over 100 refugees and asylum seekers every week, and with your donations we can help even more.
Action for Refugees in Lewisham supports children, families and adults. We help with legal advice and applications enabling asylum seekers to gain refugee status. We provide food and clothing for refugees, and help them to integrate with the community and learn English. This enables our users to find work and rebuild lives with purpose in the UK.
Our aim is for every refugee we work with to live a healthy, content life long term. We help refugees find employment, friends and a purpose. Many of our former users even volunteer for AFRIL long after they no longer need our services. This not only helps other refugees and our former users, but also the Lewisham community as a whole.
