Namaste Community Foundation - Scholarship Program was developed in August 2004 as a result of fieldwork. When visiting villages and rural areas, many families were found to be without the financial resources to send their children to school. Therefore, NCF decided to support these children in attending the local government school by helping them with admittance fees and by covering other school costs eg books, stationary, bags, school uniforms etc.
Due to the high poverty rate in Nepal especially in the rural areas a lot of children haven't been able to attend school or have dropped school because the families can not even afford the government school admission fee, buy school uniform, books and stationaries etc
NCF decided to provide financial support to children so that they are able to attend local government schools by giving scholarships on a regular basis or a full bursary covering all costs as school fees, school uniform and stationaries for the needed children in order to ensure a good education level even in the rural areas.
So far NCF has supported 175 children until basic school level education - finalized SEE (Secondary Education Examination / 10th grade) - to give them a good opportunity to start independently in their future career, employment and life. Currently 52 children are receiving complete educational support.
