Fundacion John Langdon Down serves more than 1,500 students with Down Syndrome and their low-income families each year. We offer educational, medical and psychological programs to children, teens and adults.
Down syndrome constitutes the most common cause of intellectual disability and its origins are still unknown. There are approximately more than 150,000 people with Down syndrome in Mexico and the help centers are insufficient. With today's more rigorous sanitary measures, the organizations pool and the three cafeterias need to remain closed, in our pool, we offered swimming lessons to outsiders. Consequently, all of our self-generated resources have decreased dramatically.
The John Langdon Down Foundation offers a specialized program to encourage complete development of people with Down syndrome on an intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual level through the following services: Early intervention, Nursery, Preschool, Special primary education, speech and language therapy, play center, swimming, physical education, music, dance, theatre, lunch service, Mexican School of Down Art, TRES 21 Arte-Cafe chain, Cooking workshop and Down Syndrome Clinic.
The John Langdon Down Foundation will work hard to strengthen its educational, artistic, medical and psychological programs for people with Down syndrome and their families. Also, it will offer new alternatives of labor integration to its students, promoting self-sustainability.
