This project aims to assist Palestinian Scholarship students who are pursuing university studies in Malaysia and are in need of financial assistance to cover living and other expenses. With this financial support, we hope to relieve them of their financial stress so that they can focus on their studies and successfully acquire their degree.
Before their studies, some students had been living in Malaysia with their families as refugees. Others came to Malaysia only recently from Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and elsewhere in the region to pursue their higher education dream. Even with the scholarship they've received, students and their families can't afford the cost of studying in higher education and living away from their families. Some have to take out loans, while others have to sacrifice meals or even their siblings' education.
We will use the funds to provide the students with additional financial aid to help them cover some of the most pressing costs, such as living expenses, ancillary fees, visa fees, and educational materials. This will allow them to use their monthly stipend for what it was intended: food and daily expenses, instead of invoices and paying back loans. The goal is to lighten their financial burden so that they can give their full attention to their education and enjoy their university experience.
Helping them get rid of financial burdens and anxiety, will not only have a positive impact on their emotional well-being, but will most likely increase their motivation and their chances of success. With a degree in hand, they will have more opportunities to build a better future for themselves and their families. Moreover, many of the students already plan on giving back to their broader community through volunteering, creating job opportunities and eventually paying it forward.
