Christmas starts early on the Children's ward and thanks to your support our Play Specialists have been able to organise lots of activities to get our patients in the Christmas spirit.
The children have been busy making chocolate cornflake cakes for their Christmas party and decorating pottery to give as presents. These sessions are a great way to encourage the children to leave their rooms and have fun whilst interacting with other children.
The Children's ward will stay open this Christmas as some of our children are sadly too unwell to go home. Thanks to your generosity we have been able to purchase presents for each of them and their siblings to help make their stay a little more comfortable and special. The team have been busy gift wrapping Lego sets, jigsaw puzzles and board games as well as arts and crafts and colouring books. We also try to make sure every child who visits the Out Patients gets a present too and so we organise a Christmas party with lots of treats and goodies and Santa comes to visit. It is thanks to your generosity that we are able to do this.
Patients are the heart of everything we do and we are committed to ensuring that they receive the best treatment and facilities possible. It really is due to the support of people such as yourself that we have a world-class cancer centre for children and young people at The Royal Marsden.
May we take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
