This project aims to provide rapid financial relief to La Serenissima's artists who are currently without means to earn a living following the UK Government's social distancing measures in response to COVID-19. The cancellation or postponement of all performing engagements for the foreseeable future leaves our freelance workforce hugely vulnerable for months to come. La Serenissima wants to support its musicians who are the lifeblood of our mission.
La Serenissima is a small charity that delivers its mission through a highly-skilled freelance workforce. The COVID-19 outbreak has created a situation of unprecedented hardship for organisations like La Serenissima and our performing artists who are currently unable to work in public. The termination of many months of concert plans leaves the charity without income to pay its musicians and a workforce who can no longer generate the income to sustain themselves or their families.
La Serenissima is running this campaign to generate funding for artists who have lost income and to provide relief to those who need it most. We aim to demonstrate our commitment to the amazing team who make up our extraordinary ensemble and offer artists all the support we can give them. We want our response to the crisis to set an example to other Arts organisations and help to grow a movement of resilience which will nurture our workforce in these very dark times.
In creating financial relief to our musicians we will actively help them to become survivors of this pandemic. In doing so, we are protecting our most treasured resource: our artists. We hope this action will contribute to a future where life as a freelancer is sustainable, so that we can go on honouring La Serenissima's vision: to enrich life by sharing our passion for Italian baroque music. Thank you for any support you can give at this time.
