Assalam-o-Alaikum,

Hope you are doing well, so are the children at MyHome Al-Mustafa. This pandemic has affected all of us gravely, but in some instances, it has also served as a blessing in disguise, for instance, we get to spend more time with our family etc. Children at MyHome Al-Mustafa have not been the exception, due to fewer academic activities, they get to do more of some extracurricular activities.

At MyHome Al-Mustafa, though the activities of children have been limited in various other ways, schooling has never been stopped except during the lockdown, as all the children are enrolled in Al-Mustafa Academy, so even when other students were taking online classes as per the regulations of the Government, the children of MyHome just come downstairs and carry on their schooling as there are only 100 out of 750 children present at the school.

With all the routine activities and events, the most interesting event that occurred during the past quarter is the Camp of MyHome Al-Mustafa Children with Pakistan Boy Scouts Association. Following are the brief details of the three most interesting events at Myhome Al-Mustafa.

1. Camp at Pakistan Boy Scouts Association

The purpose of engaging our children in Scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual development of our teenagers so that they take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens, and as members of their local, national and international communities.

The children went camping at Pakistan Boy Scouts Association “Clean and Green Pakistan Scouts Camporee, at Gulshan-e- Iqbal Scouts Training Center Karachi for a week.

During this time not only the children got to learn about the environment, how to keep it green and performing different physical activities but, also got the opportunity to refresh their minds and bodies by inhaling fresh air and experiencing the serenity of the campsite. This camp surely left a positive impact on the physical and mental health of our children and their happiness can be easily spotted from their smiling faces.

2. Birthday Celebration of the founder of the worldwide Scout Movement

Due to the association of our children with the Scouts Movement and many of them being the members of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association, we celebrated the birthday of the founder and the first Chief Scout of the worldwide Scout Movement Lieutenant General Robert Baden Powel on  22nd February 2021.

3.  Pakistan Day Celebration at MyHome.

To promote the sense of nationalism and patriotism in our children and to maintain a sense of connectivity with the community, we actively celebrate all the national days and many international days at MyHome Al-Mustafa. 23rd March is celebrated every year as Pakistan Day across the country and like every year, it was also celebrated at MyHome on the 23rd of March.

This was it, for now, we will get in touch soon again with some new interesting updates.

Do you see the smile on this child's face? Trust me, the reason behind is your kindness.

The children were happy to be back to school but now once again, the schools are closed and the kids are up for online schooling. The routine at MyHome Al-Mustafa has adjusted according to the New Normals i-e Breakfast, Online Schooling, lunch, nap, home tuition (for children who need assistance in their studies), playtime, Quranic Education (we provide all the children with some basic education of their parents' faith upon the request of their families), dinner and sleep. And all of these activities together with frequent hand-washing and cleanliness practices.

Online schooling is fine for the children but the children do miss their buddies and teachers at school. Hope this pandemic ends soon and the children are reunited with their friends and teachers at their school Al-Mustafa Academy.

Children are innocent beings, who adopt to all the changes easily, except for one and that is outings. All the kids were yearning for their outings, which used to happen quite often, so we decided to arrange an outing for the children ( of course after talking to the officials and taking all the necessary precautions beforehand) and took the children to the PAF Museum. A museum may sound boring to you all but trust me it was such a refreshing and entertaining day out. This museum displays the very thing of a child's interest, that is, planes of all different kinds, to mesmerize these little curious beings. The PAF Museum also has a large amusement park, which offers various fun rides and since there were very few people allowed other than MyHome children, so, the children had all the opportunity to be on their favourite rides again and again.

With following all the SOPs to keep the kids healthy and safe, we have also performed Covid-screening of all the children and the staff twice during these last four months. Also, if any of the children found to have developed any symptoms similar to those of Covid, we immediately have him screened for the virus and keep the child isolated until the report is negative. The safety and well-being of children is our highest priority and we are happy to state that none of our children or our staff has gotten infected with the Coronavirus yet.

We sincerely hope that you will continue to spread smiles on the faces of these innocent beings with love wrapped in your zakat and other alms. Stay safe and healthy.

Happy Independence Day from Us to You
Happy Independence Day from Us to You

Dear Donors, I hope this update finds you and your family in good health. Thank you for your generous support to our project Save the Future of Orphans living at MyHome Al-Mustafa. As you are aware that these few months have been very challenging for everyone out there due to the outbreak of Coronavirus and so has been the case with our organisation, but with our donors' generous support we were able to make it successfully.

During this time, the safety and well-being of the children and our staff have been our highest priority. We were closely monitoring the ongoing outbreak and as well as the health and safety guidelines from the government agencies and public health officers. The situation concerning the Covid-19 pandemic was evolved daily. As an organisation, we prioritized measures related to the monitoring, testing, treatment and delivery of medical devices and protective equipment to contain the Covid-19 outbreak. To address escalating concerns about the spread of the virus we took the following precautionary measures to safeguard children and staff while ensuring that we can effectively continue operations.

  • Consistently practised social distancing during conversations.
  • Maintain 3 feet distance between beds.
  • Maintaining personal hygiene, especially practising frequent hand-washing.
  • Enhanced hygiene measures and cleaning protocols.
  • Frequent cleaning of surfaces.
  • Frequently disinfecting with sprays.
  • Body temperature checking of children and staff daily.
  • Use of facemasks, gloves and hand sanitizers.
  • Events, physical visits and meetings were held virtually and rescheduled where possible.

To boost the immunity of children, they are given a healthy diet including fruits and vegetables rich in healthy nutrients, a glass of milk daily and Vitamin D supplements as the physical activity and sun-exposure were minimal. Monthly medical examination by Physicians also took place and if a child gets un-well then our attendants would take him to the Pediatric Consultants.

Considering the schooling of children during this period we appointed tutors for this purpose who helped the students to complete their summer vacation school work and later helped them to continue their home-schooling. These tutors conducted the assessment and evaluation of students' progress in which all the children succeeded and the school management decided to promote them in the next grade. Other extra-curricular activities such as Martial Arts Training, Scouts Training, Sports Training and Field Trips were limited due to pandemic but the children are continuing their practice within the premises of MyHome and under the guidance of supervision of the resident staff.

Children celebrated the festivities of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha with higher management and their relatives. All the children were given Eidi (Cash Gifts), new clothes, gift packs and confectionary bags. On 14th August (Independence Day of Pakistan) Al-Mustafa Welfare Society organized a function at MyHome for children, in which they celebrated and expressed their love for their country.

We sincerely hope that you will continue to support us in our mission to save the future of these precious children with your zakat and other alms, together we can become the ray of hope for the orphans.
