New Year wishes
New Year wishes

New Year, new hopes and newer beginnings-All of us ardently wait for the clock to strike 12 and usher in the New Year. It's such a celebratory, positive time which keeps everyone in good spirits! And this New Year is no different!

We are sure that 2020 has been an emotionally testing and turbulent time, thanks to the pandemic, a lot of us are keeping our fingers crossed for 2022! There have been many learnings we got from the year-from safeguarding our health, being supportive of each other to spreading kindness and now, it's time to make some wishes anew and spread the holiday cheer.

While New Year's Day celebrations kick-off when the clock strikes midnight, New Year's Eve and Day are also special festivals which are celebrated differently across the world! From traditional customs, seeking blessings from elders, get-togethers and greetings, people from everywhere follow unique traditions to get the luck and good fortune ringing! For example, while some places see the illumination of lights, fireworks to mark the 'last holiday' of the year, in places like Japan and Spain, it's customary to eat special food items like soba noodles, grapes, lentils to usher in good luck.

As we step into 2022, it's important to make the right blessings, not take things for granted and spread the cheer with one another! It may be difficult for many to celebrate in person, but the right wishes and greetings can definitely make your loved ones' day and spread prosperity in the air!

Christmas Celebrations at Janani Home
Christmas Celebrations at Janani Home

As the Christmas is nearing, the Janani Home gets all cleaning with the support of staff members and children. Decorative work and `Kolam` on the main entrance were made by the children. A crib is made and we are plannning to have the Suppose Christmas on 24th December 2021.

We have put up a Christmas tree and decorated it with string lights on the tree by moving from the bottom ...
Hang stockings over the mantle. Traditionally, kids would hang their actual socks (stockings) over the mantle and St. Nickolas would fill them with coins ...
The children are pllanning to invite local children and neighbors.

Sanitizing children's home to prevent Covid
Sanitizing children's home to prevent Covid

Janani Home follows all the standard operating procedure to prevent spread of Covid at the house. The visitors are allowed to wash their hands and feet before entering into the house.

Every week, the hose is sanitized with disinfectants. Some common disinfectants are bleach and alcohol solutions. We usually need to leave the disinfectant on the surfaces and objects for a certain period of time to kill the germs. Disinfecting does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs. Sanitizing could be done by either cleaning, disinfecting, or both.

Our staff members will clean all the area of the house such as office room, study hall, dining hall, dormitry, toilets, kitchen and reception.

The report would be submitted to the Department of Women and Child every week and it is recorded in the register for verification of the officials.

Accommodation provided to our children
Accommodation provided to our children

Janani Home, a project by Prime Trust came into existence in 2013. Since, then, we are running the Home in rented builidngs. Since, the Child Care Centre is affiliated with the Department of Women and Child, we need to follow their guideliness in providing space for the children.

By having a rented building, we pay a huge money on rent and maintence charges. The land lords keep on enhancing the rent every year making us into a difficult situation.

Some times, we are forced to vacate the house and no one is willing to offer their house. It is very difficult to find a house as per the specification stipulated by the Department of Women and Child.

Hence, we make a fervent appeal to all our well wishers and benefactors to help us to have our space.
