Summer Camp for the children
Summer Camp for the children

There is no doubt that the child will be able to make the memories of a lifetime at summer camp, with new friends, new skills, and new self-esteem that breeds confidence in the child, the memories of the fun and laughter from summer camp will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Keeping this in mind, Prime Trust organized a summer camp for their three Evening Schools at Colas Nagar, Rainbow Nagar, and Muthialpet.

The four Master of Social Work interns from the Central University of Kerala is taking part actively.

The children were offered programs on spoken English, Drawing, Singing, and Dancing along with programs on leadership training.

These programs are coordinated by the staff members of Prime Trust.

Prime Trust is always trying to support children who are in dire need of financial assistance to continue their studies. We identified 4 children who are studying at local schools in a rural village. It is observed that the families of those children are finding it hard to meet the educational needs of their children.

A family with 8 years old boy and his 10 years old sister,  lost their father and her mother is taking up menial work to feed the children. The mother of the children approached us to help her children.

Another family with 11 years old boy and his 6-years old sister was supported by us as the family is in a huge financial crisis and unable to meet their basic family needs. The mother of the children contacted us to support her kids.

The donation was made with the support received from GlobalGiving.

Health and Hygiene Program for women and children
Health and Hygiene Program for women and children

A health program was organized by the Sri Sai Institute of Paramedical and Hotel Management, Villianur, Puducherry on Saturday, the 30th April 2022 at 3.00 p.m. for the children of Janani Home for Girls and Colas Nagar Evening School and the women from local community of Colas Nagar. More than 30 children and women were present to attend the program. The students of Sri Sai Institute of Paramedical Sciences offered the following programs. Lessons were taught through dance, miming, and role play.

Hand Wash: The children were taught different ways of washing their hands

  1. Get wet and soapy: Get your hands wet in clean water.
  2. Rub: Rub soapy hands together long enough to sing “Happy Birthday” in the head twice. ...
  3. Rinse:  Hold your hands under clean, running water.
  4. Shake and dry: Shake hands a few times, then dry them with a clean towel or hand dryer.

Need for sanitation: The children were taught that the sanitation systems aim to protect human health by providing a clean environment that will stop the transmission of disease, especially through the fecal-oral route. For example, diarrhea, the main cause of malnutrition and stunted growth in children, can be reduced through adequate sanitation.

First Aid Program: The children were taught that First aid is emergency care given immediately to an injured person. The purpose of first aid is to minimize injury and future disability. In serious cases, first aid may be necessary to keep the victim alive.

Good and Bad Touch: The children were taught that Good Touch / Bad Touch is a body-safety program that teaches our children a comfortable way to talk about a very sensitive problem. Children are taught what abuse is, personal body-safety rules, who can help them, and what to do if they are threatened or harmed.

Women as the fulcrum of the society: A song was sung by the students which depicts the role of women in the community and their sacrifice. The song also narrates how women should be treated.

This program was organized by Mrs. Sushanthiga, Managing Trustee Ms. Puviarasi, Manager and Accountant, Jeeva, Secretary of Sri Sai Institute of Paramedical Sciences along with the team members of Prime Trust, Mrs. Mary, Program Manager and Ms. Uma Maheswari, Accountant.

Renewal copy of license of Janani Home for Girls

The Janani Home for Girls, a project of Prime Trust,  was started in the year 2013, and after a period of four years, the license was issued by the Department of Social Welfare Department, Government of Puducherry. It has been renewed for all these years. Now, after assessing our support for the children and the facility we provide to them, the government of Puducherry has graciously extended our license until 31.03.2027.

Since we handle girl children, the government is keen to take all monitoring steps for the safety and well-being of the children.

Many government agencies and staff members are involved in running this project.

The Board of Trustees and the children of Janani Home,  thank all our donors from GlobalGiving, staff members, and volunteers for their great contribution to helping the underprivileged/uncared girls of Puducherry.
