Standing Together Through Challenging Times
Recent weeks have brought immense hardship to Nepal. Devastating flash floods and an earthquake have impacted communities across the country, with many people still unaccounted for, including some student interns from Kathmandu University who had been involved with our wider network. Our thoughts remain with all those affected, their families, and the communities working to recover.
These tragic events are a stark reminder of the increasing challenges facing vulnerable communities in a changing climate. At the same time, significant reductions in international development funding have affected our own projects worldwide, and our local partners in Nepal. Despite these difficulties, we remain committed to continuing this important work and supporting our partners as they build resilience for the future.
We are pleased to report that, with the beginning of the new university term, our first project meeting of the academic year has taken place with colleagues from Sanskritti Farms and Kathmandu University. Together, we have agreed on a focused work programme for the next three months.
Our immediate priorities are:
This work will be carried out jointly by Kathmandu University researchers and students alongside Irish university teams, continuing the strong partnership that has been at the heart of the project.
