Maternal and newborn health remains a critical challenge in Pwani Region, Tanzania. Many pregnant women face barriers to accessing quality healthcare services. This project will improve access to antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care. Community health education and emergency referral support will save lives. The project will directly benefit over 2,500 mothers and newborns annually
Tanzania records 238 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. The neonatal mortality rate is 20 deaths per 1,000 live births. Many women live far from healthcare facilities and skilled birth attendants. Limited awareness and poverty prevent timely access to maternal healthcare. These challenges contribute to preventable maternal and newborn calamity
The project will provide antenatal and postnatal healthcare services. Community health workers will identify and refer high-risk pregnancies. Health education sessions will promote safe pregnancy and newborn care. Essential maternal and newborn supplies will be provided to vulnerable families. Emergency transport support will help mothers reach healthcare facilities quickly.
Maternal and newborn mortality rates will be reduced in target communities. Mothers will gain knowledge and confidence to make healthier decisions. Newborns will have a better chance of surviving and thriving. Stronger community health systems will continue supporting families. Healthier families will contribute to sustainable community development
