For a mother living in a displacement camp in Gaza, seeing her child sick can be terrifying. The fear becomes even greater when she knows that the medicine her child needs is available, but she simply cannot afford to buy it.
Many widowed women in Gaza are now carrying the responsibility of caring for their children alone after losing their husbands, homes, income, and sense of stability. Among them are mothers caring for orphaned children who are already living through displacement, fear, hunger, and uncertainty.
When illness comes, even a simple fever, infection, cough, or chronic condition can become another heavy burden. For families who are struggling to secure food and drinking water, the cost of medicine may be completely out of reach.
Through this initiative, we provide financial support to a local pharmacy serving displaced families inside one of Gaza’s camps. This support allows the pharmacy to provide essential medicines free of charge to widowed women, orphaned children, and vulnerable families who have no means to pay for treatment.
For these families, this support is far more than medicine.
It is a mother being able to return to her tent carrying the treatment her sick child needs instead of returning empty-handed.
It is a child receiving relief from pain and illness.
It is a widow knowing that, at least for one difficult moment, she does not have to choose between buying food and buying medicine.
Behind every prescription is a human story. A frightened mother. A sick child. A family that has already lost so much and is desperately trying to hold on.
No mother should have to watch her child suffer simply because she cannot afford medicine. No orphaned child should be denied basic treatment because of poverty and displacement.
By supporting this project, donors are helping us keep essential medicines within reach of some of Gaza’s most vulnerable families. Every contribution helps the pharmacy continue dispensing medication to those who would otherwise be forced to go without.
In the midst of an overwhelming humanitarian crisis, this may appear to be a small form of assistance. But for a mother holding medicine for her sick child, it can mean everything.
Your support can bring relief to a child, reassurance to a widow, and hope to a family that has already endured more than anyone should have to endure.
Together, we can help ensure that essential medicine remains available to widows and orphaned children when they need it most.
