For displaced families living in tents, changing weather conditions can quickly create another emergency. Rain, wind, cold temperatures, and exposure can make already difficult living conditions even harder, particularly when tents are damaged or constructed from inadequate materials.
Heavy-duty tarpaulins can provide an important additional layer of protection. They can be used to reinforce tent roofs and walls, cover damaged sections, reduce exposure to rain and wind, and help families protect their few remaining possessions.
The need for these materials becomes especially important as weather conditions deteriorate. Families should not have to spend nights trying to keep rainwater away from sleeping areas or attempting to repair fragile shelters with whatever materials they can find.
With donor support, humanitarian teams can purchase and distribute suitable tarpaulins and basic shelter materials to displaced households based on identified needs and local availability.
A tarpaulin cannot replace a safe and permanent home, but it can provide meaningful temporary protection for a family enduring displacement. Your support can help families make their temporary shelters safer and more suitable for daily life.
