This Giving Tuesday is all about offsetting our carbon footprint! One of the nine biggest deforestation fronts is located inside the Selva Maya, the highest carbon reserve in Mesoamerica. Yucatan State is part of the Selva Maya and unfortunately, it has lost 17% of green cover since 2001 until 2020. Trees are urgently needed to remedy this problem! Therefore, Kanan Kab has the challenge of producing and planting 25,000 native trees every year. May you help us?
Urban growth, farming, extensive agriculture, and fires has increased deforestation in Yucatan; at consequence, we are losing one of the most important Earth's carbon reservoirs. Our challenge is regaining the green cover in the Yucatan Peninsula helping Kanan Kab to produce and plant 25,000 native per year.
Since 2011 Kanan Kab has been producing and planting trees to Yucatan State. Trees are necessaries to improve air quality, reduce heat, filter water into the ground, and provide food and shelter. Until now we have planted 140, 000 trees to mitigate climate change regaining the green cover. We need you to continue our labor. Would you help us to be part of the solution?
With your donation we want to increase the production capacity of our nursery. Kanan Kab works towards the dream of a greener and more sustainable state. Therefore, this project is the seed of our ambitious goal of planting and donating at least 25,000 trees per year, ensuring that in a long term we can have more and better green areas that provide us more pleasant temperatures and protect us in the rainy season.
