The story of Odelia

By Agnes Portalewska | Project Coordinator

Odelia with doll she made as part of the bilingual literacy prog

When she started the bilingual literacy program, she held her head down and was unable to look up at anyone. She was in her early 20’s and had never been to school because when she went to 1st grade she was mocked and teased because of her facial deformity. Now, two years later, she has completed our course and is now enrolled in the primary school home-study program which will quickly take her through primary school and on to high school. Odelia now holds her head high, smiles, and looks people right in the eye with confidence. She brought her mother to the program and they both are stars.
