We just opened an extraordinary exhibit of the weavers’ work and lives presently in El Museo de Textil, in Oaxaca city. The most wonderful part of the exhibit was the comfort of the weavers as recognized artisans. They moved with ease among the museum people, guests and each other. Petra gave a talk of welcome in Mixteco, with beautiful grace and smiles. They were in their element and ah, what self-esteem they have! The exhibit will continue until March 2010.
