Support Immigrant and Migrant Rights on Maui

Project Report | Jul 9, 2026
Immigrant Support Services

By Annie | Director of Operations & Dev

Roots Reborn's second quarter (April–June 2026) was marked by strong execution and deepening integration across the Community Care Navigation, Pacifika, and Legal programs. Community Care Navigation closed out its Kaiser CHCP workshop series, delivered over $20,000 in direct aid to Kona Low storm victims (with 24 recipients served in May alone), and secured $88,240.82 in additional client resources in June through disaster stabilization grants, vehicle replacement funds, and the LTRG Resource Roundtable. The team also improved internal operations with case note training and new reporting access for navigators, while beginning infrastructure for the August 1 Kaiser re-enrollment period, which will support 218 community members. Cross-program collaboration grew through a Legal Program Overview Training and new community engagement formats like a food pantry pilot and office gatherings.
Pacifika built strong momentum toward its tournament, completing intakes, securing a venue, and forming a new partnership with the FSM federal delegation, before shifting to a practice-based workshop model in May that reached 116 players across six sessions and removed key participation barriers. By quarter's end, all teams had completed required workshops and final tournament logistics (jerseys, sponsorship, opening ceremony) were underway. The Legal program expanded its reach and capacity, hosting its largest Know Your Rights (KYR) session of the year, KYR Game Night, running the first Train the Trainer session, launching a summer internship and new soccer-based outreach pipeline, and supporting EPA Maui's transition to independent operations with its own website and social presence launching June 30.
