Greetings from Indian Dreams Foundation!
It is our pleasure to share our report on the progress of our disaster relief project “WE CARE” that addresses the health & hygiene issues of adolescent girls, women & children of the flood-affected areas. The project helps to educate & aware of the target groups towards their good health & hygiene during the flood & post-flood situation by organising awareness workshops & camps and distributing hygiene kits to them.
Every year, the monsoon rains and floods continue to wreak havoc in most parts of Uttar Pradesh bringing life to a standstill particularly in the rural areas. Many villages of Barabanki district face the devastating situation during monsoon.
However, this year also, continuous rains & flood is affecting many villages of Barabanki, where hundreds of locals from the villages are living in the relief camp as their homes and agricultural lands are entirely inundated due to floods. The situation is worse in Sundernagar, Betah, Parsawal, Hetmapur, Nauvanpurva and Balihariy villages where most of the areas have converted into a lake due to water entering continuously from River Ghaghra. The Ghaghra River is flowing above the danger mark because of heavy rains and lakhs of cusec of water being released from Nepal.
Whereas, Indian Dreams Foundation is dedicated to improving the condition of girls & women in flood-affected areas through personal interactions, awareness workshops and access them feminine hygiene material to stay healthy even in devastating situations.
WE CARE team interacted with women’s group of Hetmapur flood-affected village and collected heartbreaking stories from them, these are;
Kusuma Devi said “my house has partially collapsed a few days back due to heavy rains. We do not have any place left to sleep. My family is facing a huge problem. My adolescent daughters are facing taught time these days especially during periods. The project We Care has given us a big relief to manage our periods in such a situation”.
Thanks to the donors, supporters & well-wishers who are making this project success and helping the affected people for their well- being.
We want your continued support for helping the affected women, girls & children.
