The Solidarity Project is a 501(c)3 organization working with a network of Honduran Community Leaders in seven rural partner communities to execute development projects, cultivate Honduran leaders, and support rural health initiatives. This project will provide: nine community development grants & leadership training, supports four community interns, community health worker volunteers, and our community pharmacy program with the goal of supporting community driven change in Honduras.
Community Leaders in Honduras have the knowledge and vision to develop solutions for local problems, but often lack the partnership, capital, and skills to make their ideas a reality. Research indicates that with the provision of information, skills, and financial support, community leaders can effectively organize and address local problems. Our Mesa Comunitaria micro-grant program, rural leadership intern program, and rural health initiatives address these pressing problems.
The Solidarity Project's work not only addresses pressing infrastructure, economic growth and health problems facing rural Honduras but cultivates the growth of rural Honduran leaders so they can best respond to the needs of their community.
Our migro-grant projects fund seven community designed projects in rural Honduras impacting over 10,000 people. Our rural health initiatives train volunteers in basic first aid and teaches them to run the community pharmacy which gives Hondurans access to basic OTC medications. The leadership interns cultivate their leadership skills through our program. These projects improve Honduran communities, cultivate leaders, and give communities lasting tools to continue to create positive change.
