Report on Greening Uganda Schools

Dear Esteemed Donors,

I am writing to provide an update on the progress of the Greening Uganda Schools initiative led by PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) and to urgently appeal for your support to continue this impactful work.

Despite the challenges faced this quarter, including limited activities due to constraints, we have made significant strides in our mission to plant trees in Uganda schools. We conducted informative radio talk shows on Voice of Tooro and Life FM to raise awareness about environmental degradation and the critical importance of tree planting to restore degraded areas, particularly wetlands.

Our monitoring efforts have shown promising results as the trees we previously planted are thriving, thanks to the dedicated care provided by school environment clubs, teachers, and students. However, the demand for more fruit trees, indigenous trees, and shade-providing trees in schools remains high.

To address this demand and expand our impact, we have formed a strategic partnership with Africa Sustainable Journeys (ASJ), a like-minded travel tour company that shares our vision of greening Uganda schools. Together, we have initiated a fundraising campaign to raise $5000, enabling us to plant 20,000 trees in 40 schools across the districts of Bunyangabu, Kabarole, and Fort Portal Tourism City.

We humbly appeal to our donors and supporters on GlobalGiving to consider contributing to this critical cause. Your generosity will directly facilitate the planting of trees in the most deserving schools during the upcoming rainy season from September to November 2025. Remember Uganda has two long rainy seasons, March to May and September to November 2025. The funds raised will be utilized for purchasing tree species, hiring and fueling trucks for transportation, and supporting our dedicated field staff.

The challenges we face, particularly the lack of a recurring donor or grant, hinder our ability to reach and impact more schools effectively. Your support is paramount in overcoming these obstacles and ensuring that the young generation in Uganda becomes proactive environmental stewards, contributing to a sustainable future.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners and donors who have supported us thus far and urge you to continue standing with us in this vital endeavor. Together, we can make a lasting difference in greening Uganda schools and nurturing a generation that values and protects the environment

Thank you for your kind consideration and unwavering support.

Warm regards,

Steven Waddell
