The project is aimed to empower girls and young people in rural Nigeria by providing access to quality digital literacy education in Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. It provides support for computers, training and tuition, books, uniform supplies, and nutritional food, and mentoring in STEM program. Supporting girls' digital education will promote gender equality, gainful employment in digital economy, and comprehensive digital skill development to alleviate poverty.
Girls' digital education in rural Nigeria faces multidimensional challenges ranging from patriarchal factors of parent beliefs of investing in boys' education rather than girls, socio-cultural norms and practices, government low investment in digital education, early marriages and pregnancy, lack of dedicated staff and science teachers in rural schools and poverty level of rural parents. Providing socio-economic resources and development of digital literacy curricula could help.
Supporting digital literacy education of girls, we will provide them with computer sets, offer computer training in Data Science, Machine learning and AI and tuition supports, provide school supplies, books, transportation and nutritious meals. These singular gestures will increase digital literacy, reduce illiteracy rates and the likelihood of students dropping out. Providing digital literacy, empowers girls with financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and leadership skills to alleviate poverty.
The project lasting impact include girls and young people in rural Nigeria have the opportunities of being gainfully employed; Have a comprehensive digital skill development in financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and leadership; and inclusive participation in the digital economy, and bridging the gender and socio-economic digital divide; and the right tools to live above poverty, and become change agents in digital economy informed decision-making processes for national development.
