Despite being one of Asia's most promising markets for renewable energy investment, the Philippines remains heavily reliant on fossil fuels, and Filipino families pay some of the highest electricity prices in the region. As the energy sector grows, many young Filipinos still leave in search of better opportunities abroad. Without investing in local talent to lead the clean energy transition at home, communities risk missing out on affordable power, sustainable jobs, and a more resilient future.
The FREE Scholarship Program provides language training, tuition support, travel support, and mentorship for promising youth who want to become renewable energy engineers. Scholars gain technical knowledge, exposure to clean energy solutions, and experience through workshops, internships, and community-based energy projects in universities with well-established renewable energy engineering programs in China, the world's largest renewable energy developer and manufacturer.
FREE Program is a 4-year investment on safer global climate future. Supporting young renewable energy engineers means investing in people who will power tomorrow's communities. As graduates return to their communities, they help build an accessible and affordable energy system that is safe and healthy to both the communities and the planet.
