We have exciting updates and impact data collected from our trainings in Pakistan.
The Master Trainers led by Afshan Memon in Hyderabad have now reached 50 children through the training of the CHWs. Please see the attached report.
The training in Karachi has been slower to get off the ground. The three trainee Master Trainers are finding it harder to reach CHWs due to ongoing restrictions. I am continuing to follow up with them to try and fix a date for their CHW training to start.
The CHWs have reached 28 families. We are starting to receive the Monitoring and Evaluation forms but it is slow getting these returned. We have the baseline reports (see below) which are completed on the first visit to the families. We are now looking forward to receiving the Quarterly Review form so that we can start to monitor changes. I have been told these will be coming in the in the next few weeks.
AURA and Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre (MALC) Training
We are pleased that we have now formed 2 new partnerships with AURA and MALC in Pakistan starting in December 2021. The training was held by two Master Trainers from ACELP (Nazia Abid and Aen-ul-Huda). The training was conducted in person at AURA, Karachi. Through this training MAITS experts trained 9 therapists and 15 special education teachers from AURA and MALC. 3 therapists from MALC joined the training at AURA.
In addition, MAITS has committed to train 50 CHWs working at MALC (Marie Adelaide Laprosy Centre) who work directly with families of children with special needs. This training has been led by seasoned MAITS Master Trainer Ali Punjani alongside Master Trainer Bakhtawar Saleem in November. The training will started with 15 CHWs and then hopefully will roll out to more groups after that. We are very pleased about the new partnership with MALC, Karachi and aim to train their wide network of community health workers across Pakistan.
Many thanks for your support and contribution. We are aiming to reach over 700 families in Pakistan through our programme.
