Today, I would like to introduce to you one of our popular projects - the Balloon Art project at Saiseikai Infant's Home. Since 2010, we have involved over hundreds of volunteers in this project to help prepare for monthly Birthday events and also occasional holiday events for the 30 infants (ages 0-3) living in this facility.
We welcome all ages, gender and nationality to volunteer at this project as long as interested volunteers have participated in our balloon art seminar at least once before. At this balloon art seminar, a volunteer leader, whose balloon making skills is hardly amateur level teaches volunteers how to make decorations out of balloons. In the past, volunteers created various animals, crabs, bees, caterpillars, ducks, Santa Claus, space shuttles, New Year's and doll festival ornaments and the list continues. Please click HERE for the slideshow of the actual decorations made at each project.
By organizing these events and involving many volunteers, Hands On Tokyo tries to meet the pressing need for affection and interaction for the infants living in the facility.
We organized two birthday preparation events and a Children's Day (May 5th) event in April and in May. The donations we received from yourselves through this global giving site was used to buy art balloons for these projects. Please have a look at the wonderful pictures taken at the projects!
