The burden of diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease in Nigeria overwhelms the available health resources. Majority of individuals living with these diseases cannot afford regular medicines while the cost of dialysis is enormous.
In most Nigerians, Chronic kidney disease runs a more severe course with poor outcomes and this is due to complications arising from kidney disease, hypertension and heart disease. Effective management of hypertension and diabetes are key to prolonging the lives of patients with CKD.
Therefore, we have continued our campaign for hypertension and diabetes self-management to prevent the poor outcomes in people living with hypertension, diabetes or chronic kidney disease. We have now distributed blood pressure monitors to 50 patients. Free one-month supply of anti-hypertensives and anti-diabetes medicines have been dispensed to over 500 people, while we continue to provide free kidney health consultations for people living with CKD in our local community and environs.
We would love to do much more for our clients but funding remains a great challenge.
We appreciate you, our donors for your support and we look forward to reaching more people with your help.
