Challenge

Many sex workers don't even have the money to afford food since the nationwide lock-down was announced on March 22. Since the savings of these workers are meager there is no other source to finance their daily expenses. And they are hard-pressed by the owners to pay rent for the houses they live in. Children have hardly two meals a day and many times are left to be malnourished. Further those who are already suffering from HIV and on ART for them it is vital to get proper nutrition.

Solution

Provide the required Personal Safety Gear - masks, sanitzers, soaps and safe drinking water. Provide the food material and immediate nutritional & medical support Prevent malnourished among children during the lockdown Provide emergency medical kits (include ART supplies for two months) Providing psycho-social counselling support Tracking and regular mapping of children in the red-light areas to to ensure no sudden cases of missing formation of child protection committees

Long-Term Impact

Communities are better prepared and protected to safeguard themselves from further contracting COVId 19. Communities especially the children are protected from trafficking and other vulnerable situations.Communities are better protected to cope up with food and basic amenities and have less chances of falling in debt and thereby avid trafficking and sexual exploitation. Communities are better prepared to protect them from abuses, exploitation including labour and sexual exploitation.
