Dear Friend,
Thanks to your generosity, there is a moment of hope for children in the State of Palestine. In September, after three years of no regular formal in-person education, more than 500,000 children in the Gaza Strip finally returned to class.
With nearly 98 percent of school buildings damaged or destroyed, this return to learning is not what school should look like. Instead, more than 500,000 children are attending temporary learning spaces across Gaza. UNICEF is directly supporting more than 335,000 of these children across 203 learning centers. In addition, UNICEF recreational kits and educational supplies entered Gaza in February 2026, including the School-in-a-Box and early childhood development kits, which support more than 460,000 children.
Despite the ongoing insecurity and challenging living conditions, being in class is at least providing children with some routine and stability. It is a time to not only learn but reconnect with friends, engage with teachers and have some fun through structured activities.
For children who have lived through so much horror, being in class plays a vital role in supporting their mental wellbeing. Your support remains essential. Thank you for standing with children across the State of Palestine.
