Update: Sustainability for Guatemalan Farmers

By Kathie Delph | Director

Thank you so much for your ongoing commitiment to Agros communities like Villa Linda in Guatemala! The community is making great progress, thanks to your support, in projects like beekeeping and growing coffee.

We are excited to share with you the Fall 2011 update for Villa Linda. You can also access this update on our website at http://www.agros.org/ag/villagepdfs/VillaLinda.pdf. You may notice that the report is in a new format, which integrates some helpful feedback we've received from our supporters like you. One of the changes we’ve made is providing an overall country update from Director Mario Morales so you can get a sense of the progress not only in Villa Linda but throughout Guatemala.

You can also learn about one couple in the community, Faustino and Marcela, who have overcome great odds and are now thriving.  Marcela is an active leader in her community bank, using loans from it to run a small grocery store.  Faustino is growing coffee and caradmom, crops that typically prove an excellent investment, so that he and Marcela can provide more opportunity for their family.

We hope you like this new update, including Faustino and Marcela's story, and would welcome any feedback you may have. Thanks again for your partnership in helping families to escape the cycle of generational poverty in Guatemala.
