As part of the support received from High Volume Transport under the FCDO/UK-Aid funded Transport-Technology Research and Innovation for International Development (T-TRIID) program, the second deliverable is this EV conversion pilot.
A donor ICE vehicle to be converted and key electric vehicle conversion components including the batteries, motor, DC-DC converter, BMS, Charger and inverter have been acquired. We are now in the early stages; the donor vehicle is being torn-down to give way for conversion components and to strip off some unnecessary weight.
Our major challenge at this point is the lack of appropiate tools to foster the necessary fabrications and electronic works, since our working environment for the past years has been around vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. We will need to fundraise to cater for some workshop tools and equipment.
