Background
Nomadic Assistance for Peace and Development (NAPAD) continues to implement its End Period Poverty Campaign aimed at improving access to menstrual health products for vulnerable school-going girls in Mandera County, Kenya. The campaign seeks to mobilize resources to procure and provide sanitary pads and related menstrual hygiene supplies to girls who face challenges accessing these essential products, thereby reducing absenteeism from school and promoting dignity, health, and educational continuity.
To strengthen fundraising efforts and expand the reach of the campaign, NAPAD organized a fundraising event dubbed “Workout to Wipe Out Period Poverty.” The event was implemented with the support of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). The initiative combined community engagement, event fundraising, awareness raising, and resource mobilization to generate support for menstrual hygiene interventions targeting vulnerable girls.
Key Activities Undertaken
As part of the campaign expansion strategy, NAPAD undertook a series of fundraising and outreach activities, including:
Results Achieved
The fundraising activities have generated momentum for the End Period Poverty Campaign. Through contributions received from individuals, organizations, and supporters engaged during the fundraising drive, NAPAD through the event has successfully raised KES 519,820 to date.
These funds will directly contribute to the procurement of sanitary pads and menstrual hygiene supplies for vulnerable school-going girls in Mandera County, helping to ensure that menstruation does not become a barrier to education and personal dignity.
Beyond the financial resources mobilized, the campaign has also increased awareness of period poverty among stakeholders and strengthened partnerships with organizations that have expressed interest in supporting girls’ education and menstrual health initiatives.
Next Steps
NAPAD remains committed to achieving its fundraising target and expanding support to more girls in need. The organization will continue to:
Appreciation
NAPAD extends its gratitude to all stakeholders for supporting the fundraising initiative. Their support will help vulnerable girls remain in school, participate confidently in learning, and manage menstruation with dignity. Together, we are taking meaningful steps toward ending period poverty and ensuring that no girl is left behind because of a lack of access to menstrual hygiene products.
