A year of purpose and new pathways in Salgar

By Andres Velez | Executive director

2025 was a year of purpose and consolidation for our foundation. We took steady steps to strengthen our sustainability and expand our educational impact in a rural municipality where access to higher education remains limited.

Through a strategic partnership with another philanthropic organization, we launched our first Technical Scholarship Program, opening a new learning pathway for young people seeking job opportunities and personal growth. As a result of this collaboration, five students from the community began their technical studies in a higher education institution in a major city, creating new possibilities for their personal and professional futures.

The impact of our model is especially visible in individual transformation stories. In 2024, we met a young student who was repeating eighth grade. Despite having remarkable musical talent, he faced deep uncertainty about his future. We chose to support him in a holistic way, and within a few months he regained motivation, advanced academically, and, by 2025, progressed all the way to eleventh grade thanks to his discipline and commitment. Today, he is beginning formal studies in music at a university, reminding us that timely and caring support can truly change life trajectories.

As part of our institutional learning, beginning this year our university scholarships are awarded starting in tenth grade. This approach allows us to use eleventh grade as a key period for academic, emotional, and vocational guidance, strengthening essential foundations before students enter higher education. In this year’s selection process, three students were awarded scholarships in fields related to engineering and communication. Each of them represents our commitment to providing earlier, stronger, and more transformative educational opportunities for young people in the community.
